At Posed & Pretty, we treat a downturned mouth by targeting the Depressor Anguli Oris (DAO) muscles. These muscles run from the corners of your mouth down toward the jawline; when they are overactive, they pull the corners of the lips downward, often creating a sad or stern expression even when the face is at rest.

The DAO muscle's primary function is to pull the corners of the mouth down. By injecting neurotoxin directly into this muscle, we significantly reduce its downward pull. This allow the upward-pulling muscles to take over, resulting in a more neutral or slightly lifted mouth position.

Process

Downtime

There is no downtime associated with this procedure. You may experience minor redness or swelling at the injection sites that typically resolve within 15 minutes. You can return to work or daily activities immediately.


Results

You will begin to notice the corners of the mouth shifting to a more neutral position within 5–7 days. The final results, including a smoother appearance of the lower face, will be fully visible at the 2-week mark.

Longevity
